“The whole world is a series of miracles, but we’re so used to them we call them ordinary things.”

~Hans Christian Andersen

A Big THANK YOU!

After a wild and crazy winter with everything from snow to sunshine, we’re truly grateful for all those that bundled up and showed up to support us and the other farmers during the winter market! Thank you for braving the cold! You’re our heroes!!

Our cows are “outstanding” in their field!

Hello, Sunshine!

Spring has taken its paintbrush and once again decorated the earth in living color in what seems like one wide stroke, and we’re grateful for all the miracles Spring gifts us with each year! The longer days, fragrant blooms, sunny afternoons, and green pastures are all a renewed reminder that only God could have created such a big, beautiful world!

And speaking of longer days, extra daylight hours mean more production! And we’re not the only ones benefitting from the longer days. The chickens are too! Our hens are living their absolute best lives out on the pasture in the warm sunshine! The extra daylight puts a spring in their step and their egg production has increased “eggs-ponentially!”

Talking “Dirt-y!”

In fact, our egg baskets are running over every day with fresh, pasture-raised eggs, full of nutrients from our nutrient-rich soil that releases all that nutrition into the plants the hens are eating! And at the risk of sounding like dirt nerds, we really “dig” healthy soil with a rich and diverse microbiome that protects our bodies when we eat quality pasture-raised foods! So, our chickens and pigs would certainly agree that getting dirty can be a very good thing! And hey, that’s what the muck boots are for!

All the Single Ladies—and guys too!

If you know us, you know how much we love our animals, and the hens are certainly no exception! To us, you haven’t lived until you’ve had over a hundred hens waddling toward you out in the pasture! And, we’ve read that when hens are content, they will coo and make other soft noises, which is music to our ears! But we’re pretty fond of our roosters too! Sure, they live up to their reputation of being a little naughty at times, and they don’t lay eggs or do anything especially useful, but they do their best to help protect the hens out in the field. In fact, they rarely leave their post of guarding the chickens, but we recently caught a rooster on the back of our truck tailgate and just have to share the photo! Of course, after walking back and forth for a while, he let out a big crow! Is he letting us and our dog, Flash, know HE “rules the roost?”

Unlikely Pair

And on the subject of our beloved dog, Flash, he loves to follow Sam and Jake around the farm! You can often spot him in the field with the pigs or the cows “helping” his two best friends get their chores done! He’s forever curious and wants to be part of the action! The cows usually ignore him, but they will occasionally remind him they know he’s there!

Gettin’ Piggy with it!

We know, we know! We’ve been out of bacon, brats, and a few fan favorites for a few weeks, but the wait is almost over!! We’ll be fully stocked and loaded next month ready to supply you with our quality, pasture-raised pork! And don’t forget, we’ll have pasture-raised chicken coming to a market near you in August, and grass-fed beef is in the not-so-distant future too!! So, get those forks and knives ready!! We want to feed you and your family with nutrient-dense products that are raised with your health and well-being in mind!
