Egg Custard Pie

An Ivester Family Farm Christmas tradition!
YOU WILL NEED
4 Ivester Family Farm eggs
1 Nine-inch pie crust
1/2 cup of sugar
2 2/3 cups of whole milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
DIRECTIONS
Place the oven rack in the lowest position. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Place pie crust in the pie plate.
Gently mix eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl to create the filling.
Pour filling in the pie plate.
Cover the edges of the pie crust with aluminum foil to prevent burning.
Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. The middle of the pie should still jiggle when removed from the oven as it will continue to bake after removal.
Place the pie on a wire rack to cool for 45 minutes. Then refrigerate the pie overnight before serving.
